The #3-seed Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team hosted #6-seed Keystone in the Quarterfinals of the United East Championship, pitching a clean slate as they raced to a 3-0 victory for a playoff win. The Chargers improve to 9-8-1 overall and advance to the United East Semifinals while the Giants end their season at 6-11-1 overall.
How it Happened:
The teams went back and forth early before
Gabe Bormolini (Fr.) had a shot about 10 minutes in was went wide, then around the 20-minute mark, the Giants had a shot on goal to the left that was saved by
Chris Jackson (Sr.) for the Chargers. That led to a corner kick that had no shot for Keystone, then
Riley Bills (Fr.) had a shot on target that was saved by the Giants' keeper. The Chargers picked up the intensity on offense as they drew several offside calls, then Jackson made another save inside three minutes to go in the half. As time ran down on the first half, the Chargers put together an offensive push that found
Jacob Garrett (Fr.) for a score in the bottom right corner, beating the halftime buzzer and sending the Chargers into the halftime break with a 1-0 advantage.
The Chargers drew two corner kicks in the first two minutes of the second half with two shots, then later on a foul got LBC a close free kick that was taken by
Silas Dellaperute (Jr.), putting the shot low to the right to sneak it past for a score, extending the Chargers' lead to 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the half. Pressure mounted for Keystone as the yellow cards piled up, culminating in yet another Chargers score as
Riley Bills made a run and punched a shot through from the right side for a 3-0 lead. The defense kept the Giants without a shot down the stretch as both
Owen Hickok (So.) and
Gabe Madanat (Jr.) had shots for the Chargers, winding time down as LBC closed out a home playoff victory to advance to the United East Final Four next week.
