Men’s Volleyball Falls at Misericordia in Four

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team played their final non-conference match of the season on Thursday night as they took on Misericordia on the road, falling in four sets to the Cougars. The Chargers drop to 13-11 overall and 6-0 in the United East while the Cougars improve to 15-12 overall and 3-3 in the MAC.

How it Happened:
Kevin Bryant (Jr.) knocked the first three kills of the match for the Chargers, then Timothy Fletcher (So.) had a block and a kill as LBC led 5-3. The teams then went back and forth in a first set that featured 10 total ties, with Zeke Clark (Jr.) picking up a pair of kills during the middle of the set. The Cougars then used a three-point run to pull ahead, then later won six of seven points in a row as they held on late to win the first set 25-20 for the early 1-0 lead.

Misericordia got out to a 3-0 lead in set two, keeping the lead at three early on as Carson Hoover (Jr.) landed several kills. The Chargers struggled to find consistent offense during the set as the Cougars saw a 7-1 run at one point, controlling the set all the way through as they cruised 25-15 to pull within one set of closing it out.

Bryant and Jacob Snyder (So.) picked up kills early in set three as the score was tied at the first four marks, then Misericordia built a three-point edge at 10-7. The Chargers then won five of the next seven points as they tied the set at 12-12, then a run of three points swung LBC on top by two points at 15-13. The middle of the set then saw five straight tie scores before Bryant put LBC back up with a kill, then the Chargers closed with three of the final four points as Hoover and Snyder each got kills to secure the set 25-22 and force another.

The Cougars raced ahead in set four as they exploded for a 9-1 lead, but two kills by Fletcher helped power a five-point response by LBC to cut it to three. Despite kills later in the set by Hoover, this was the closest the Chargers would get in the set as Misericordia closed out the Chargers with the final five points in a row, winning 25-14 and securing the four-set win at home.

By the Numbers:
- The Cougars led in every category, winning the kills battle 42-36 and landing 11 blocks to the Chargers' three
