Women’s Tennis Cruise to Senior Day Win

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Tennis team squared off against the Lions of Penn St. Brandywine on Saturday afternoon cruising to a 6-1 victory, their United East Conference win of the season. The Chargers were also able to celebrate three senior student-athletes and their families: Sierra Hartmann, Natalie Hoover, and Jania Weist. The Chargers are now 6-8 overall and 6-3 in conference play while the Lions drop to 6-8 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

Lancaster Bible came out strong in doubles play, taking two of the three matches to secure early momentum. The duo of Sierra Hartmann and Jania Weist earned a hard-fought 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while Natalie Hoover and Lindsey Ochs cruised to a 6-1 victory in the No. 2 spot. Penn State Brandywine picked up the third doubles point, but the Chargers held the early edge heading into singles play.

In singles action, Lancaster Bible took full control of the match by winning five of the six flights. Jania Weist set the tone with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, followed by strong straight-set victories from Natalie Hoover (No. 3), Lindsey Ochs (No. 4), and Becky Dimov (No. 5), all winning 6-0 or 6-3 in convincing fashion. Katelyn Riederich battled through a competitive No. 6 singles match, ultimately securing a 7-6, 7-6 victory to cap off the Chargers' performance. Penn State Brandywine's lone point came at No. 1 singles, but Lancaster Bible's depth proved to be the difference in the 6-1 final.

Up Next: The Chargers will enter the United East Tournament as the five-seed and will travel to the four-seed, Cairn, on Saturday, April 25. Start time still to be announced.
