Lancaster Bible has had six Player of the Year's during Brubaker's tenure including Jake Rotelle and Ben Latham this past year. Season-by-Season Highlights:
Â In his first season with the Chargers, Brubaker guided Lancaster Bible to a surprise trip to the North Eastern Athletic Conference Final where the Chargers fell to SUNY Polytechnic, 3-0. Brubaker has coached two NEAC First-Team players, Alex Bahn and Mitch Demko, who were both named to the team during the 2014 season.Â
The Chargers struggled in 2015, going 1-26 overall and 0-14 in NEAC play, as the team had to rebuild almost the entire roster. Lancaster Bible's lone win came against York (N.Y.) on Jan. 30.
Lancaster Bible played better in 2016, winning three of its first seven games, including its first NEAC victory in over a year with a 3-0 win over Wilson on Feb. 13. The Chargers had a three-match winning streak in late February with wins over Medgar Evers, John Jay and York (N.Y.).
After two rebuilding years in 2015 and 2016, Brubaker guided the Chargers to 25 wins, as the Chargers advanced to the NEAC Semifinals. The Chargers had two separate seven-match win streaks and placed five players on NEAC All-Conference Teams, including freshman Kaleb Ansell, who was named NEAC Rookie of the Year and earned First Team honors.
Lancaster Bible had the best season in program history in 2018, as the Chargers won their first-ever NEAC Championship, and then won an NCAA Division III National Tournament match, with a 3-2 victory over Rivier. The Chargers lost to top-ranked, and eventual NCAA Champion, Springfield in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals, as Nate Miller was named an AVCAÂ All-American for his program and conference-best 498 kills.Â
Lancaster Bible won 14 straight matches during the season, and was a perfect 8-0 in conference play, including 24-1 in sets won and lost in conference action. The Chargers were 12-1 at Horst Athletic Center with the lone loss coming to eighth-ranked New Paltz in the season-opener.
The Chargers had another strong season in 2019, as the team was nationally ranked for much of the season, reaching as high as the 10th-ranked team in NCAA Division III. Lancaster Bible picked up wins over several ranked opponents, and Nate Miller was again selected as NEAC Player of the Year and as an AVCA Division III All-American. The team's 26 victories were the most in program history.
Lancaster Bible was having one of its best seasons during the 2020 year, before the season was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March. The Chargers were 17-3 overall and 4-0 in NEAC play before the season was canceled, and had won seven straight games, including three straight against ranked opponents. Lancaster Bible was ranked eighth in the final AVCA Division III Top 15 Poll, and three Chargers earned NEAC All-Conference honors, including Reuben Kemrer, who was named Co-NEAC Player of the Year.
Â Head Coach Jade Brubaker guided Lancaster Bible through the 2021 season with an impressive 11-4 record with a limited schedule due to COVID-19 rebounds for the NCAA. The Chargers strung together three straight ranked wins over Kean twice and Southern Virginia in February and won eight of their final ten regular season matches. In spite of many scheduling conflicts and quarantine stints for the team, LBC found themselves with a ticket punched to the NCAA Division III National Tournament with a first-round bye, the first in program history. The Chargers suffered a loss in the quarterfinal round against Benedictine (Ill.), but fought to 20+ points in all three sets of their defeat.
Â The Lancaster Bible squad, powered by ninth-year head coach Jade Brubaker, finished with a winning record for the sixth consecutive season at 16-11. They began the season with three straight five-set wins on a southern road trip, including wins over Division II schools in Erskine (S.C.) and Edward Waters. The Chargers also won the Misericordia Tournament hosted by Misericordia University, winning 3-2, 3-0 and 3-1 over the span of two days. Lancaster Bible played a tough schedule with six matches against ranked opponents, looking for quality wins to propel them into the NCAA Tournament. The Chargers fell short of the postseason at 16-11, but put together a 7-4 record at home and a 6-0 start to the season. Junior OH Elijah Herb led the team with 302 kills and a season-high 26 against Hiram on January 29, while grad student Kole Horst closed out his Charger career with 214 kills and 3.31 points/set.
In their inaugural season in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, Lancaster Bible’s men’s volleyball team saw great success under head coach Jade Brubaker with an overall record of 21-10. The Chargers started off with a rocky start after finishing 2-2 early in the season in the NCCAA National Invitational, but the team quickly strung together a five-game win streak to turn things around. Coach Brubaker and the squad trampled their competition in the CSAC as they finished a perfect six wins to none. The Chargers kept rolling in the playoffs as the number one seed, and they defeated Cairn University in the CSAC Final to take the crown as CSAC Champions. Coach Brubaker was named Coach of the Year, and the team had six players earn All-Conference honors, including Elijah Herb who won Player of the Year.
Competing in the United East Conference for the first time in program history due to the merge with the CSAC, the Chargers finished just above .500 going 15-14 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference for the second straight year. The Chargers beat Cairn, 3-0, to claim the United East Conference Championship and clinched a spot in the NCAA Division III National Tournament. They lost to Wentworth, 3-0, in the first round of the tournament. The Chargers received six total All-Conference selections, highlighted by Brubaker's second straight Coach of the Year nod, Ben Latham earning Defensive Player of the Year, and Jake Rotelle earning Offensive Player of the Year.Â
