Kel Brown was announced as the 28th Women's Basketball Head Coach in program history in June of 2024 and will be entering his third season at the helm this coming 2026-27 season.

Brown, a graduate of Messiah ('19 & '21) in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership, has a wealth of experience at the collegiate level, serving as an assistant coach at Messiah in various levels including player scouting and skill development. Brown comes from a long lineage of coaching background including Brown's grandfather who was a long-time coach at PG County Community College.

Season-by-Season Highlights
2024-25: In Kel Brown's first season at the helm for Women's Basketball, the Chargers tallied 10 total wins for a 10-15 record with a 7-9 United East Conference finish. Earning the #11-seed in the conference tournament, the Chargers fell on the road to #6-seed Penn St. Harrisburg in the First Round of the postseason. The Chargers landed three United East All-Conference selections as senior Serene Calderon and fifth year Jenna Dombach earned Second Team honors and sophomore Rachel Nolt earned Third Team honors.

2025-26: The Chargers improved in several ways under Brown in his second season, finishing 11-16 overall with an 8-5 United East record to land the #7-seed in the conference tournament. After a rocky 0-7 start to the season, the Chargers rattled off four straight wins, then another three straight to open up January and get back on track. LBC won their final two regular season games before defeating #10-seed Gallaudet at home in the First Round for their first postseason victory since 2017, then fell on the road to #2-seed Penn College in the Quarterfinals. The Chargers once again had three All-Conference selections as freshman Emily Wilson was named to the United East Second Team while junior Rachel Nolt and senior Raven Hunter garnered United East Third Team honors.
