Mustangs Outlast Men’s Soccer

Box Score

Lancaster PA,- For only the second time this season the men's soccer team went 90 minutes of play without a goal as they fell 2-0 to Stevenson University. Chargers went into the match, Saturday, ready to step up to a big challenge, but it was not meant to happen on this day.

The Chargers played well early and kept the score knotted at zero late into the first half despite being out shot 13-3. In the 43rd minute Stevenson's Tyler King put the Mustangs up one going into the half, on a broken play assist from Scott Andrzejezski.

Usually, the Chargers rally in the second half. This game, however, the Mustangs blitzed the Chargers in the beginning of the second half and reserve Jake Stocksdale gave Stevenson an insurance goal only two minutes into the final frame. Lancaster was able to play the Mustangs close for the rest of the half, and missed some golden opportunities. Mustang goalkeeper Dan McLeary denied any attempt for a comeback from the Chargers including two late game saves on Lancaster's leading goal scorer Cory Greiser (Quakertown, PA) and reserve Bryan Hege (Reading, PA). For the Chargers, freshman goalkeeper Jake Kreider (Annville, PA) notched ten saves on the day.

Coach Beers, encouraged by the game, noted, “First step is competing the second step is winning. They set the bar and now we have to step up. That's the level of soccer we want to play.”

Chargers return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Baltimore, MD to take on Goucher College at 4:00 pm.
