Men’s Soccer Settles for Tie with Lions

Box Score

Lancaster, PA- For the fourth straight game the Chargers found themselves in the same position, trailing at the half. Only this time, a come from behind victory just wasn't in the cards for Lancaster. The Chargers were able to come away with a tie against Penn State Abington, who did a great job to keep the Chargers at bay for regulation and two overtime periods and to hold onto the 2-2 tie.

The Chargers jumped out to the early lead when leading scorer freshman Cory Greiser (Quakertown, PA) scored only eight minutes into the first half. Penn State Abington didn't waste anytime to respond, as Voicu Tudor knocked in the tying goal just five minutes later. Uncharacteristically, the Chargers defense allowed a second goal late in the first half, by Sebastian Hernandez, to end the half down 2-1.

Despite the terrible weather, the second period was played fairly even, but as the half went on the Chargers were able to apply offensive pressure. For the game, Lancaster out shot the Lions 26-11, with a majority of shots late in the second half.

Reserve Bryan Hege (Reading, PA), who scored the game tying goal against Valley Forge Christian College and the game winner at Philadelphia Biblical University, worked his magic again in the 69th minute converting a penalty kick to equalize the game at two.

The game ended in a 2-2 tie after neither team could convert late in regulation or either overtime periods.

The Chargers record stands at 8-1-1 following the day's results. The Chargers look to bounce Wednesday when they host Williamson trade at 4:00 pm.
