Middletown, PA- The Chargers went to Harrisburg in search of their first win, but came away empty. On Friday, the Chargers fell in the first round to host Penn State Harrisburg 55-39. In the consolation game Saturday, Lancaster lost to Penn College of Technology 88-44.
Once again, poor shooting played a critical role in both losses. Over the weekend, Lancaster shot a lackluster 26 percent from the field and allowed their opponents to hit 45 percent of their shots on the defensive end.
On Friday against Penn State Harrisburg, the Chargers gave up 32 turnovers and went without a single double digit scorer in the 55-39 loss. A bright spot for the Chargers was forward reserve Meredith Wrightson (Silver Spring, MD) who came off the bench to lead the team with 7 points and 8 rebounds, both team highs. Lion's forward Sandra Adames couldn't miss going 12-15 from the field for a game high 26 points along with 14 rebounds.
On Saturday, Lancaster had a season low 14 turnovers but still couldn't keep up with the Wildcats of Penn College. The Wildcats shot over 50 percent from the field and pulled down an impressive 66 rebounds including 20 on the offensive end. For the Chargers, Nicole Karschner ( Galeton, PA) and Christine Maher (Westminster, MD) led the Chargers in scoring with 16 and 14 respectively.
