Ferrrum, VA. - The Chargers (2-5) lost to a member of the USA South Athletic Conference for the second time this season, Tuesday night. Lancaster dropped their 5th of the year to Ferrum College 79-58.
The first twelve minutes of the game was a back and forth battle with Lancaster holding a 2 point lead over the Panthers at the 8:39 mark. The Chargers had no answer for the inside presence of Derek Mitchell or the outside shooting of Daryl Hart. Ferrum finished the first half with a 23-10 run, for the halftime score of 44-31.
The Panthers continued their impressive play increasing their lead to as much as 28 in the second half. Charger reserves were able to bring the deficit to 21 late in game. Billy Harrison (Douglassville, PA) was the only Charger in double digits with 14 points. Freshman Derek Scott (Harrington, DE) chipped in with 6 points and team high as well as personal best 5 assists. The Panthers had 4 guys in double figures: Jerrel Wade 13, Nick English 14, Derek Mitchell 16, and Daryl Hart 18.
The Chargers return to action Wednesday at Hampden Sydney at 7:00 PM.
