Hampden-Sydney, VA. - The men's basketball team lost for a second consecutive night, falling to the Tigers of Hampden Sydney College Wednesday night. The Tigers shot an impressive 16-36 from behind the arc and forced 22 turnovers on their way to defeating the Chargers 82-60.
The Chargers, in what has become a common trend, held a lead late into the first half only to allow the Tigers a 12-3 run to end the half with an eight point advantage 46-38. Midway through the second half the Chargers pulled the lead back to 8, 62-54, on a three pointer by freshman Derek Scott (Harrington, DE). Over the next 7 minutes Hampden-Sydney outscored the Lancaster 15-0 to put the game out of reach.
In the loss, Lancaster shot 53.7% from the field and an impressive 50% from deep. Billy Harrison (Douglassville, PA) led the Chargers in scoring for the 5th time this season with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Derek Scott was perfect from the field going 4-4 as well as 3-3 from behind the arc, on his way to a personal high 14 points. The Tigers were led by the outside shooting of John Barker and Turner King. Barker had a career high 20 points on 7-12 shooting in his debut start. King led all scorers with 26, on 11-15 shooting.
The Chargers return to action after break on January 6th at PSU Harrisburg. The game is slated for 7:00 PM tipoff.
