Chargers Tame Lions for the Second Time

Lancaster, PA- The Chargers (2-4) picked up their second win in a row beating Penn State York in their home opener 60-55, Wednesday night. This is the second time this season Lancaster got the better of the Nittany Lions of Penn State York.

 

The Chargers didn't waste anytime imposing their run and gun style, jumping on the Lions early 20-4 by the 12 minute mark. The Lions answered with 20-11 run of their own to cut the Charger halftime lead to seven, 31-24.

 

In the second half, the Chargers were able to keep the Lions at arms reach for most of the half. Lancaster weathered a late game run by the Lions to hold on for the victory 60-55. Penn State had four players in double figures: Nicole Davis 11, Lindsay Mumma 10, Samantha Noel 10, and Tiffany Mummert led with a game high 17 points.

 

Lacy McClaine (New Bethlehem, PA) and Nicole Karschner (Galeton, PA) led the Chargers in scoring with 16 and 14 respectively. Freshman point guard Cindy Blough (Friedens, PA) filled the stat sheet with 8 points, 3 assists, and a team high 10 rebounds. Also, Meredith Wrightson (Silver Spring, MD) came off the bench to drop 8 points and grab 8 boards.

 

The Chargers look for their third win in a row on Thursday, when they host Rosemont at 7:00 PM.
