Freshman Cory Greiser Scored Game Winner in Season Opener
Box Score

CAMBRIDGE
, Mass. – It was a day of firsts for Lancaster Bible College's Men's Soccer Team as they opened the 2008 campaign with six newcomers in the starting lineup and the LBC debut of Head Coach Josh Beers. In a well played game, the Chargers prevailed behind freshman Cory Greiser's (Quakertown, PA) first college goal in the 79th minute and withstood the persistent late attack from Lesley College as freshman Jake Kreider recorded his first career shutout as the Chargers upset Lesley 1-0.

The Chargers created multiple chances throughout the game as they outshot the Lynx 15-7.  Lancaster finally broke through 30 minutes into the second half when a well played ball from freshman Taylor Dooley to senior captain, Dan Carver was quickly redirected through to Greiser who volleyed the ball into the net for the only goal of the game.

Coach Josh Beers singled out the fine play of midfield sophomore transfer Zak Kraehmer and sophomore Kevin Keltner while recognizing the solid overall team effort.  "This is the way you would like to script it, and we are thankful for the effort from the team today.  As a young team, they showed a lot of maturity and heart today and it is good to get the confidence that always comes from winning especially against a quality opponent."

Chargers are back in action again Sunday August 31, 2008 at Regis College in Weston Mass.
