Lancaster, PA- The Chargers came from behind to beat Baptist Bible College in overtime 74-69. Billy Harrison (Douglassville, PA), on the night he was honored for scoring his 1000th point, led all scorers with 18. The win gives the Chargers their 4th of the year and 2nd victory in the last three games.
Lancaster controlled the first half leading by as many as 13, 28-15 with 4:40 to go, but with under a minute to go the Defenders cut the lead to 5. With time running down and the Charger's lead in danger of being cut to 3, senior Billy Harrison came up with a huge steal and break away lay-up to go up 30-23 at the half.
The beginning of the second half belonged to Baptist Bible, climbing back to take the lead at the 7:47 mark. Justin Cook's 3pt basket with 4:13 left in regulation gave the Defenders their largest lead of the game 57-50. Andrew Risser's (Lancaster, PA) third triple of the night started the rally for the Chargers. Jake Clemenson (The Dalles, OR) chipped in drawing a charge on the defensive end and then converting on a pick and roll from Kevin Keltner (Menomonee Falls, WI). With only 32 seconds remaining Carl Edwards (Baltimore, MD) hit both free throws to cut the lead to 59-57. Nathan Greve missed the front end of a one and one to give the Chargers an opportunity to tie. Which is exactly what Kevin Keltner did, draining a baseline jumper to send the game to OT.
The overtime period belonged to the Chargers and Andrew Risser. Risser dropped 6 of his 17 in overtime as the Chargers outscored their opponent 24-12 over the last 9 minutes. Clutch free throw shooting by co-captains Harrison and Edwards helped clinch the victory for the Chargers.
The Chargers look to put together their first back to back wins of the year when they host St. Joseph's (NY) Friday at 7:00 PM.
