Lancaster, PA- The Chargers beat the St. Joseph's College Bears 65-54 on Thursday night. It was the second time in as many games that the Chargers had to come back from a second half deficit. Lancaster has now won three of the last four and the victory Thursday gives the Chargers their first 2-game winning streak of the year.
The Charger's first half was less than perfect, with the home team committing 16 turnovers and shooting a dismal 31% from the floor. That along with Justin Gist and Ervin Maddox going off for 21 points combined put the Chargers down 29-24 at the half.
At the 14:00 minute mark in the second half the Chargers took the lead on a lay-up by Colin Cooper (Eliot, ME) and never looked back. Lancaster's improved shooting and tough defense propelled the Chargers to the 11 point victory.
Billy Harrison (Douglassville, PA) led the Charger's in scoring for the 5th time this season with 22 points. Guards, Derek Scott (Harrington, DE) and Kevin Keltner (Menomonee Falls, WI) chipped in with 13 and 10 points respectively including a combined 17 points in the second half. Carl Edwards was just one rebound shy of a double-double finishing with 10 points and 9 rebounds. For the Bears, the backcourt of Gist and Maddox combined for 44 of the team's 54 points.
The Chargers look for number 3 in a row on Monday at home against PSU Brandywine at 7:00 PM.
