Lancaster, PA- Usually when a team can hold their opponents shooting under 35% from the field, 10% from three, and keep them15 points below their average they will put themselves in a position to win. On Monday night, the Chargers did everything they needed to but still came up short, losing to Mt. Aloysius College 63-59.
The Chargers entered halftime up 35-30, thanks to stingy defense and connecting on 52% of their shots. Kyle Keltner (Menomonee Falls,) gave Lancaster a spark off the bench with four rebounds and 10 points in the first half.
Lancaster held on to the lead until 1:24 mark in the second half, when Daniel Conway hit a lay-up for two of his game high 26 points to put the Mounties up 59-58. Mt. Aloysius took advantage of Charger turnovers and missed free throws outscoring the home team six to one down the stretch.
The Mounties made Billy Harrison (Douglassville, PA) work for all 15 of his points holding him to 4-17 from the field. In the absence of the injured Carl Edwards; Kyle Keltner, Colin Cooper (Eliot, ME), and Jake Clemenson (The Dalles, OR) combined for 21 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots.
The Chargers look for win number three in the East Region when they face off against Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, PA on Thursday at 7:30 PM.
