Lancaster, PA- The Chargers put a halt to their four game losing streak with their second straight victory over Philadelphia Biblical University 57-56. Lancaster's stingy defense forced 23 turnovers to make up for a less than perfect shooting performance, 29.7% for the game.
Despite their second lowest scoring output of the year the Chargers ended the opening stanza with a two point lead, 21-19. In the first half, Lancaster over came a 16.7% shooting performance by forcing the Eagles into 15 turnovers.
The second half was truly a back and forth battle with five ties as well as five lead changes. The largest lead for the Chargers came at the 15:00 minute mark going up seven, 34-27. Down the stretch Willie Miller hit his second triple of the game to put the Eagles up 56-54 with 40 seconds remaining in the game. Kyle Keltner (Menomonee Falls, WI) had the answer with a three of his own to put the Chargers up one for the final 57-56.
“This was a great win for our team today,” said Coach Beers. “For us to defend our home court shorthanded was a huge boost for the team's confidence. Today was a perfect example of competing ugly and it feels good.”
Billy Harrison (Douglassville, PA), the only Charger to finish with double figures, led all scorers with 20 points, four rebounds, five assists, and five steals. In the loss, Willie Miller and Tom Arthur had 18 and 16 respectively for the Eagles.
Lancaster returns to action on Monday, traveling to Dickinson University for their 7:00 pm tip-off.
