The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team is quickly finding out that if you don't shoot well from the field, you aren't going to win many games. The Chargers shot 17 percent from the field and lost to Cedar Crest 65-39 in the first game of the Cedar Crest Tip-Off Tournament.
LBC (0-2) trailed 11-0 before Deb Martin's jumper 12:48 into the game. They trailed 35-15 at the half. Despite the poor shooting, Charger Head Coach Bob Shannon was happy with the overall team play the ladies displayed.
"We played aggressive tonight and everyone hustled the entire game," Shannon said. "We scrapped and clawed against a good team and if our shooting had been better, I think we could have been right there at the end."
Nicole Karschner and
Lauren Heliger each had seven points and six rebounds for the Chargers.
Cindy Blough led LBC with eight points.
Vanessa Clemenson added seven rebounds.
The Chargers had 48 rebounds, 22 of which were offensive rebounds.
