The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team controlled the middle 30 minutes of their game against Rosemont College on Tuesday night. It was the first and last five minutes of the game that cost them their first victory of the season. Using a 7-0 run to begin the game and a 21-7 run to end it, the Ravens defeated the Chargers 64-56.
Trailing by one at halftime, the teams battled back and forth for much of the second half before LBC (0-4) took a six point lead. The Ravens (2-2) chipped away, taking the lead for good with 3:42 to play on a lay-up by Kate Clarkson.
"We went cold and couldn't stop their run at the end," Charger Head Coach Bob Shannon said. "Overall I thought we took some important steps tonight."
Cindy Blough led the Chargers with 14 points, while freshman
Emily Lloyd continued her hot start with eight points and eight rebounds.
Kelly Long also added eight points and
Christine Maher had six rebounds.
LBC shot 34 percent for the game and held a 49-40 advantage on the boards.
"We played hard against a good team and we can certainly take something from tonight's game," Shannon said.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday when they host Penn State-Hazleton (0-3) at 6:00 p.m.
