After exploding for a 40-18 halftime lead on Tuesday night against Penn State-Hazleton, the Chargers did the opposite Thursday night at Penn State-Abington. Trailing 31-23 at halftime, LBC mounted a big second half comeback before falling 57-55 in Jenkintown, Pa.
The Chargers (1-5) trailed by as many as 14 in the second half before they buckled down on defense and began hitting shots. A
Kelly Long free-throw put the Chargers head 51-50 with 3:30 to go, but Abington (1-3) answered quickly with a jumper by Elizabeth Hilber and a three-pointer by Trisha Watson to take a 56-51 lead.
"We simply dug too big a hole for ourselves," Charger Head Coach Bob Shannon said. "We came out flat and made too many mistakes."
Freshman
Emily Lloyd led the Chargers with 13 points and six rebounds.
Kelly Long added 10 points, while
Lacy McClaine chipped in with nine points.
"We worked really hard to get back into the game and I'm proud of the way the ladies fought back," Shannon said.
