Chargers Respond to Halftime Challenge, Crush Davis

Heading into halftime of Saturday's game against Davis, the Lancaster Bible College women's basketball staff could take solace in the fact they were up the 14 points. The only problem was they were shooting 19 percent from the floor and could have led by much more.

"We challenged the team at halftime to turn up the defensive pressure and increase their movement on offense," Charger Head Coach Bob Shannon said.

LBC was up for the challenge and began the second half on an 18-4 run to pull away from the visiting Falcons. The Chargers earned their second consecutive home victory with the 79-39 win.

Nicole Karschner led the Chargers with 10 points and eight rebounds. Vanessa Clemenson led the team in scoring with 11 points, while adding four rebounds as well. Cindy Blough reached double-digits for the third time this season with 10 points.

"Karschner and Blough played really well for us today," Shannon said. "They were both ready to go from the start."

Shannon was also happy with the way the team wore down Davis.

"We knew that we had a deeper bench and I was pleased with how we used everyone and wore them down," Shannon said.

The game concluded the Chargers week of playing three games in five days.

"We are happy to come out of the week with a 2-1 record, but we should have taken all three games," Shannon said. "We will take the two wins though and continue to improve."

LBC (2-5) travels to face Penn State-Brandywine on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m.

"They are a similar team to us," Shannon said. "It is another opportunity to show how far we have come as a program."
