Without two of their key players, the Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team could ill-afford to make many mistakes in their Tuesday night match-up against Penn State-Brandywine. The Lady Lions had other ideas.
Forcing 30 turnovers, PSU-Brandywine beat the Chargers 75-64 in Media, Pa. Sarah de Berardinis had 27 points to pace the Lady Lions.
LBC, already without leading scoring
Cindy Blough due to the flu, lost
Christine Maher in the first half after she rolled her ankle.
In their absence,
Vanessa Clemenson led the Chargers with 13 points and eight rebounds. Freshman
Lauren Heliger added 12 points and seven rebounds.
"Our team goes as our defense goes and tonight our defense just wasn't very good," Charger Head Coach Bob Shannon said. "Give Penn State credit, they shot the ball well and we couldn't stop them."
LBC (2-6), down 34-24 at halftime, shot 31 percent for the game.
The Chargers are back in action on Thursday when they face Baptist Bible in Clarks Summit, Pa. at 5:00 p.m.
