St. David's, PA- On Wednesday night, the stage was set for the Chargers second consecutive road comeback, but Eastern University wouldn't have it, holding off Lancaster 70-62. Lancaster outscored the home team 31-17 over the last nine minutes cutting the deficit from 22 to eight.
Charger turnovers were the story of the first half. Lancaster committed 12 miss-haps leading to nine points for the Eagles. Turnovers combined with poor shooting (37.5%) found the Chargers down 37-23 at the break.
By the ten minute mark of the second half, the Eagles had built a 22 point advantage. Over the next 3:30, behind Billy Harrison's (Douglassville, PA) three triples the Chargers went on a 16-1 run, to cut the lead to seven. Eastern answered, quickly stretching their lead back to 13 and putting Lancaster's hopes of a second straight comeback to rest. The Chargers refused to give up scoring five points in the last 15 seconds for the final of 70-62.
Charger's leading scorer Billy Harrison had to work for all of his team leading 17 points going 7-20 from the field, the senior also had a game high eight rebounds. Sophomore, Kevin Keltner (Menomonee Falls, WI) added 14 points on only seven shots. Jason Reels had a game high 19 points to lead the eagles.
The Chargers return home on Friday, for a possible playoff preview with Valley Forge Christian College at 8:00 PM.
