Lancaster, PA- Once again the Chargers, who have now split their last three tri-matches, came away 1-1 after Wednesday's action. In the first match, Lancaster withstood York College's (NY) battle in the first set to win in three, 30-27, 30-19, and 30-20. Unfortunately, the Chargers were unable to keep the momentum going into the 8:00 match with Stevenson University. The Chargers fell to the Mustangs 22-30, 19-30, and 28-30.
It was a team effort in the 3-0 win over York College (NY). Setter, Ben Bewley's (Lancaster, PA) game high 28 assists were spread out between eight hitters. Outside hitters, Jesse Corbin (Pittsburgh, PA) and Jake Harbold (Chiang Mai, Thailand) tied for a game high with nine kills each. Sophomore, Jason Glerum (York, PA) chipped in with eight kills and 10 digs. On the defensive side of the net, Brandon Boosz tallied 12 digs. Michael Song finished with seven kills to lead the Cardinals.
It was a different story in the second match; the Chargers couldn't find an answer for the Mustang's hitting connecting at a .257 clip. By the third set, Lancaster was able to challenge Stevenson all the way up to game point, 28-30. In the loss, Jason Glerum notched his first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs. Jesse Corbin also scored 10 kills, while Jake Harbold had a game high 17 digs.
The Chargers are in action again on Friday when the team travels to D'Youville College for an 8:00 PM match.
