After playing the first and third ranked teams in NCCAA Division II last week, the Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team liked their chances heading to Mount Aloysius. Kaylee Keagy and the rest of the Mounties had other ideas.
Keagy had 32 points and 11 rebounds to lead Mount Aloysius to a 84-60 victory Monday night in Cresson, Pa. Lindsey Bush had 14 points and five rebounds as well for the Mounties.
Chargers' freshman
Lauren Heliger had a career high 22 points to lead LBC. Heliger shot 8-for-17 from the floor and added four assists.
Nicole Karschner played a strong all-around game with six points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Despite Heliger and Karschner's strong play, the Chargers could not hold onto the ball and committed 31 turnovers.
"We went cold for the last 10 minutes of the first half and turned the ball over too much," Charger Head Coach Bob Shannon said. "They took advantage of our mistakes."
Even with the turnovers, the Chargers cut the Mounties' lead to 12 with eight minutes to play. That was as close as they would get. A bucket and two three's later put the lead back to 20 and iced the game.
LBC (2-10) has two more games left in their seven-game road trip, before they host six straight games. They have 9 days off before facing rival Philadelphia Biblical University in Langhorne, Pa. next Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
