Kevin Keltner had a team-high 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, but it was not enough as the Chargers fell in their final game of the first semester to Albright, 80-60.
The Lions' Matt Ashcroft had 23 points, 15 of which came via the three-pointer, to pace Albright. Derek Hall had 15 points, while Shane Irwin and Cornell Mickens had 14 points apiece.
"If you base your defensive energy on how well you are doing offensively and the offense is not going well, you're going to be in trouble and today we did that," Chargers' Head Coach
Pete Beers said.
Albright had 42 points in the paint, many of which came off easy lay-ups in the lane.
"The defensive effort just was not very good today," Beers said. "They had so many easy shots, so many lay-ups."
The 6-foot-11-inch Hall had eight rebounds to go along with his 15 points. His ability to score and move the ball around the floor created many of the scoring chances. The Lions (6-3) had 23 assists compared to LBC's 10. Beers said although Albright out-rebounded the Chargers by seven, it was the 23 assists that were the difference.
"They were moving the ball and giving it up to the open shooter," Beers said. "We have to learn to move the ball like that and make hard cuts to the basket. We have to understand that the person who shoots is probably going to be the second or third option, not the first."
LBC shot just 37 percent from the floor, including 3-of-19 from beyond the arc.
Erich Graybill chipped in with eight points, while
Andrew Risser had seven points and four rebounds.
The Chargers enter Christmas Break with a record of 4-7. Beers said the team will re-evaluate where they are when they get back from Christmas and look forward to the second semester.
"We have played well at times and other times we have not at all," Beers said. "We are going to get better as a team, I'm just not sure we are getting better right now."
Beers said the members of the team and coaching staff will have to look at themselves in the mirror over the break.
"That's the good thing about Christmas, it's sort of like halftime," Beers said. "The guys will come back re-energized and though they knew the journey was going to be difficult this season, I think they need to get back to being tough, both at practice and in the games."
LBC is off until January 4, 2011 when they take on Cabrini in Radnor, Pa. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Notes:
-The Chargers were 4-4 last season at the end of the first semester and 2-6 during the 2008-09 season.
