Chargers Use Strong Second Half to Pull Away From Mitchell

What a difference a day can make.

It took the Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team 9:20 to score their first field goal of the second half on Friday night in a loss to New England College. Saturday afternoon, the Chargers used a 14-2 run in the first five minutes to double their 12-point halftime lead to 24 points and bury Mitchell College.

Sophomore Kody Koser had 20 points to lead four LBC players in double figures as the Chargers defeated the Mariners, 85-61 to win the consolation game of The Eastern Nazarene College Tournament.

Senior Kevin Keltner had 14 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in what LBC Head Coach Pete Beers called Keltner's best game of the season.

"Kevin facilitated well tonight on the offensive end," Beers said. "He made an effort to get others involved and did an overall great job leading the team."

Madison Warfel and Erich Graybill were the other LBC players in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively. After shooting 34 percent on Friday night, LBC shot 54 percent from the floor, including 7-of-14 from beyond the arc.

"It was a great game overall for us," Beers said. "We rotated well on defense and I think the guys took Friday as a wake-up call that we need to come out and play hard every single night."

Beers said the team is beginning to realize that if they play together, good things will happen.

"We do well as a team," Beers said. "When we play as individuals, we get into trouble, but when we play together, we have good chemistry and are tough to beat."

The Chargers return home on Tuesday to host Lebanon Valley College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Notes:
-The 54 percent shooting is the best for LBC since February 8, 2010 when they shot 60 percent in a 91-72 win over Misericordia.

-Koser scored 20 points or more for the fourth time this season.
