Late Goal Helps Alvernia Beat LBC, 2-1

Alvernia's Morgan Davidheiser scored with 12 minutes remaining to help lead the Crusaders past the Chargers, 2-1 on Saturday in men's soccer action.

LBC's Miles Oxenford had his first collegiate goal to tie the game at 1-1 in the 56th minute on a beautiful pass from junior Lawrence Lartey.

"Lawrence probably played the best collegiate soccer game of his career," LBC Head Coach Josh Beers said. "He was dominant in the midfield and just played well everywhere."

The Chargers (2-4) had a great opportunity to tie the game in the final minutes, but could not convert. Alvernia out shot the Chargers by a margin of 15-6, while both teams had three corner kicks.

"We played well enough to win, but that is not good enough," Beers said. "We are still waiting to take that next step as a team."

LBC faces another tough opponent on Monday when they head to Towson, Md. to take on the Gophers of Goucher College. Goucher beat the Chargers, 3-1 last year in Towson, and own a record of 2-5 this season.
