The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball season is just two games old, but there are already questions about the team's offense. Monday was no exception as the Chargers mustered just 33 points in a 55-33 loss to Lancaster County neighbor Elizabethtown.
LBC trailed just 32-20 at halftime, but scored just seven points in the first 14 minutes of the second half. The visiting Blue Jays didn't shoot much better, but still led 46-27 with six minutes to play and cruised to an easy 22-point victory.
"Our offense just isn't clicking right now," LBC Head Coach Doug Helsel said. "We need to run our sets and motion better. It just all needs to improve."
The Chargers and Blue Jays both shot 34 percent from the floor, but E-town took 20 more shots than LBC, due in large part to LBC's 27 turnovers. Though they turned the ball over, the Chargers did improve their rebounding from last Tuesday's debacle and outrebounded E-town, 38-35.
"We rebounded better tonight and hustled for 40 minutes," Helsel said. "We are still growing and coming together as a team and if we continue to do some more little things correct, we will be fine."
Lauren Heliger led LBC with 11 points and four assists, while
Emily Lloyd had nine points and eight rebounds.
The Chargers [0-2 overall, 0-1 NEAC] will look to improve their offense on Thursday when they take on NEAC foe Gallaudet at 7 p.m.
