One dream is over, one is still very alive.
The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team lost to SUNYIT on Saturday, 4-1, ending their run at a NEAC Championshin and berth in the NCAA Division III Championships. However, the Chargers are the NCCAA East Region Champions and will begin their journey to an NCCAA Division II Championship on Wednesday in Kissimmee, Florida.
On Saturday, the host Wildcats jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead, scoring 1:51 into the game. Twelve minutes later it was 2-0 and 4:22 later, the Wildcats basically put the game away when Trevor Totman scored on a penalty kick to make it 3-0.
"They were a physical team with big forwards," LBC Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "We didn't start the game off very well and simply couldn't overcome the deficit."
SUNYIT made it 4-0, 2:43 into the second half and the rout was on. LBC's
Keith Keltner scored with 5:50 left to get the Chargers on the board, but it was not meant to be for LBC. Instead, their focus now turns to the NCCAA National Tournament.
The Chargers will depart Sunday night for Kissimmee and arrive sometime Monday afternoon. They will practice Monday night and/or Tuesday and prepare for Northland International University. LBC will face Northland in the opening round on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
