Chargers Gift Wrap 31 Turnovers in Loss to Albright

With a chance to end the first semester on a high note, the Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team traveled to Reading to take on Albright and were within seven points with 7:20 to play. Then the wheels fell off.

Albright ended the game on a 22-8 run and won 78-57, sending the Chargers to Christmas Break with an 0-7 record. Derek Hall and Reuel Moore each had 14 points to lead the Lions who improved to 5-2 this season. Andrew Risser had 13 points and seven rebounds to pace LBC, while Erich Graybill had six points and seven rebounds.

"Well it's Christmas time and we thought we would them 31 gifts today," Chargers' Head Coach Pete Beers said tounge-in-cheek. "We are getting better, but our discipline is simply not there."

LBC's 31 turnovers are a season-high and the most since November 15, 2009 when they turned it over 36 times in a season-opening 96-53 loss to Eastern Mennonite.

"We have a more consistent effort throughout the game, but the choices we are making aren't the best," Beers said. "We didn't shoot very well today, but we got a lot of good looks, so that is encouraging."

Also encouraging to Beers was the team's rebounding.

"I thought we rebounded the best we have all year," Beers said. "We just didn't protect the ball and against a good team, like Albright, you have to protect the ball."

The Chargers (0-7 overall, 0-2 NEAC) have 23 days to think about where they want their season to go. They will face NCCAA East Region rival Baptist Bible College on January 3 in Clarks Summit, Pa. at 4 p.m.
