The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team heads to Walla Walla, Washington this weekend to take part in the Kim Evanger Raney Memorial Classic at Whitman College. The games are the first for LBC West of the Mississippi River since the 2002-03 season when they took part in the NCCAA National Tournament in Joplin, Missouri. Below are the game notes for the Chargers' two games, as well as some fun facts about Walla Walla, Washington.

LBC This Season: The Chargers have won two straight games after beginning the season 0-2...LBC defeated Wilson, 53-31 on Wednesday behind a career-high 27 points from junior
Lauren Heliger...Heliger was 10-of-20 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line...The 31 points allowed by LBC was the lowest total since they defeated Valley Forge Military Academy 66-5 during the 2007-08 season...Heliger continues to lead the team in scoring with 17.8 points per game, while
Emily Lloyd [8.5 rpg] and
Sarah Heilenman [8.3 rpg] continue to perform well on the glass for the Chargers...The two games in Washington are games three and four of a seven-game road trip for the Chargers...LBC will return from Christmas Break and head to Baptist Bible, Wells and Keuka before returning home on January 11 to face Gallaudet.
Whitman This Season: The Missionaries are a deceiving 1-5 this season and 0-2 in the Northwest Conference...Their five losses are by a combined 21 points and four of five losses are by four points or less...In Whitman's last game, they lost to18th ranked Lewis & Clark, 64-54 as Lewis & Clark shot 17-of-25 from the free throw line in the second half...Jenele Peterson leads Whitman in scoring with 12.7 points per game, while Meghan White averages 6.2 boards per game.
Walla Walla, Washington Fun Facts
-Walla Walla is famous for its sweet onions
-Officially became a town in 1862
-Some famous residents include Adam West who played Batman on the old TV shows and former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe. West actually attended Whitman College, while Bledsoe attended high school in Walla Walla.
-Walla Walla was actually founded by Marcus Whitman and his wife Narcissa Whitman who set up the Whitman Mission to try and convert Native Americans to Christianity. Unfortunately, after the Native Americans thought the missionaries were poisoning them, the Native Americans killed many of the missionaries, including the Whitmans. The college was established in their honor.
