Chargers Notch First Win of 2011

The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team won their first match of the season on Friday night, defeating Polytechnic Institute of NYU, 3-0. The Chargers won, 25-14, 25-20, 25-22.

Jesse Corbin led LBC (1-12) with nine kills and seven digs. Justin Perkins chipped in with seven kills and six digs, while BJ Boosz added two kills and 27 assists.

"I'm happy for the guys," Chargers' Head Coach Ben Bewley said. "It's tough to keep battling each match and come up short. I'm happy we fought hard for three sets and had something to show for it."

LBC had 30 kills for the match and committed 20 errors. Defensively they were aggressive and had 33 digs, something Bewley was happy with.

"We played an intense and aggressive volleyball match," Bewley said. "I thought Justin's passing was excellent and Dan McCallister played very wel at the net and didn't let easy shots get by."

McCallister had a match-high three solo blocks.

The Chargers do not get much rest as they travel to SUNY New Paltz on Saturday for a match at 2:00 p.m.
