McClaine Scores 1,000th Point in Chargers' Loss to Mount Aloysius

McClaine 1,000

Lancaster Bible College senior Lacy McClaine drained a jumper from the corner with 14:06 remaining in the first half to score her 1,000th collegiate point and become the 6th woman in LBC history to hit the 1,000 mark.

Unfortunately for the Chargers, for the second straight Monday, a player scored their 1,000th point in an LBC loss. Mount Aloysius overcame a five-point halftime deficit to defeat the Chargers for the 13th straight time, 68-58. LBC senior Nicole Karschner scored her 1,000th point last Monday in a loss to Rosemont.

Kaylee Keagy had 11 points and nine rebounds to lead the Mounties. They forced 29 LBC turnovers, 16 of which were in the second half.

"We played flat in the second half and simply could not recover," Chargers' Head Coach Doug Helsel said. "We tried and tried to get them out of the funk they were in, but nothing seemed to work."

McClaine finished with a game-high 18 points and added three assists. After missing her first shot, McClaine hit her next four shots, two of which were 3-pointers, to hit 1,000 points exactly.

"I am just so happy for her," Helsel said. "She caught fire there for a while in the first half and it was great to see her get to 1,000."

McClaine joins Karschner and men's basketball player Kevin Keltner as LBC players who have scored their 1,000th point this season.

Karschner finished with 10 points and six rebounds, while fellow senior Vanessa Clemenson had five points and nine boards.

The Chargers have the week off until they face St. Joseph's [Brooklyn] on Saturday in New York.

"We will look forward to practice this week and try to correct some of the mistakes we made tonight," Helsel said.

Notes:
-The Chargers have just one regular season home game remaining. They face Valley Forge Christian next Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. It will be senior night, as well as Breast Cancer Awareness Night at LBC.

-Sophomore guard Lauren Heliger for the second time this season, picking up her fifth foul with 1:40 remaining.

-Karschner moved into a tie for second place on the all-time games played list with 101. Meredith Wrightson and Kelly Long, both 2010 graduates, played 101 games as well. Kim Provenzano is the all-time leader with 103.
