Chargers Lose Home Finale, 3-1 to EMU

The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team did something they have never done on Wednesday night at Horst Athletic Center - they won a set against Eastern Mennonite. Unfortunately, for the Chargers, it was the only set they won in a 3-1 loss to the Royals.

For the first time in 12 all-time matches against EMU, the Chargers won a set, breaking an 0-for-33 drought. After dropping the first set, the Royals rebounded and won, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20.

Chris Moise led the Royals with 17 kills and seven digs. Nolan Prock added four kills and 21 digs, while Frankie Coto and Greg Knight each had nine kills.

For the Chargers (1-18, 0-12), Jesse Corbin once again led LBC. Corbin had 14 kills and 16 digs, both season-highs for LBC.

"Jesse played great tonight," Chargers' Head Coach Ben Bewley said. "He had twice as many kills as anyone else and played well offensively and defensively."

All of the Chargers' players performed well defensively, as they had 62 digs, the second most this season (they had 68 against New Jersey City University in February).

"Our defense and passing was tremendous," Bewley said. "It is the second straight match that the opposing coach has commended our team defense."

Bewley was also pleased that the team did not fold when things did not go their way.

"We didn't quit and we didn't back down," Bewley said. "I think that is important for us as we wind down the season. We are winning sets and playing better each time we take the floor."

Justin Perkins had seven kills and 10 digs for LBC, while #A.J. Longacre# added six kills and 12 digs.

The Chargers will wrap-up their season this weekend at The MIT Men's Volleyball Invitational in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

LBC will play twice on Friday and twice on Saturday.

"We have to keep building and can't just mail it in this weekend because they are our last matches," Bewley said. "We have an opportunity to win some matches up there, especially if we keep playing well."
