Chargers Can't Complete Comeback, Fall to Moravian, 4-3

The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team tried and tried, but couldn't overcome host Moravian's lead on Monday and lost to the Greyhounds, 4-3. LBC trailed, 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2, but could never tie the game and fell to 2-5-1 for the year.

After falling behind, 2-0 in the first 21 minutes of the game, LBC's Cory Greiser cut the lead in half in the 24th minute as he scored his first goal of the season. The score stayed the same through halftime, but just two minutes into the second half, Moravian regained their two-goal lead on a goal from Eric Paone.

Sean Westerlund's second goal of the season in the 55th minute cut the deficit to 3-2, but once again, the Greyhounds responded, this time just two minutes later, and went ahead, 4-2.

Chargers' senior Lawrence Lartey scored with 22 minutes remaining to pull LBC within one, but the Chargers would not get closer and lost for the third time in four games.

LBC senior goalkeeper Jarrod Bergey made eight saves in the loss. Moravian held a 23-13 edge in shots and a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.

The Chargers are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Clarks Summit, Pa. to take on NCCAA East Region rival Baptist Bible. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
