LBC Earns First Win of 2011-12

It wasn't a pretty win, but when you're 0-7 on January 3, who cares what a win looks like?

The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team cracked the win column for the first time this season with a 61-51 victory over NCCAA East Region rival Baptist Bible College on Tuesday in Clarks Summit.

Andrew Risser had a team-high 10 points for the Chargers who have now won four straight over the Defenders dating back to the 2008-09 season. LBC has won five of its last seven over the Defenders since 2005-06 after winning just 3 of the first 64 meetings between the two teams.

"We protected the ball well tonight and it's obviously nice to get the first win," Chargers' Head Coach Pete Beers said.

Jordan Greve and Stephen Howard each had 14 points for the Defenders (0-11), but the LBC defense played tough and the 51 points allowed was the lowest total the Chargers have ever given up to BBC.

"We will get back to work tomorrow and continue to improve," Beers said. "We are excited for Friday and Saturday."

Friday and Saturday will be LBC's first North Eastern Athletic Conference [NEAC] games since they lost to Galladuet on December 1. The Chargers travel to Aurora, N.Y. to take on Wells on Friday night and face Keuka on Saturday afternoon.

LBC and Wells, last year's NEAC Champions, are scheduled to tip-off at 4 p.m. on Friday evening.
