Box Score The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team advanced to the North Eastern Athletic Conference [NEAC] Semifinals on Friday night, defeating SUNYIT, 3-1 in the NEAC Quarterfinals. LBC won the match, played at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., 22-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-20.
Lauren Heliger had 17 kills and 8 digs to lead the Chargers, while
Lauren Daniels added 16 kills and 8 digs. With her 16 kills, Daniels now has 415 kills this season, setting a new single-season record at LBC. The previous record of 405 was set by Peggy Compton in 2010.
Freshman
Grace Scheuerman added 6 kills and 14 digs for the Chargers who improved to 17-18 this season. LBC lost in last year's NEAC Quarterfinals and Head Coach
Lauren Bewley was pleased the team could improve on their finish this season.
"We had to earn the victory tonight," Bewley said. "We need to refocus ourselves for tomorrow morning, but we are glad to have advanced further than we did last year."
LBC will face top-seeded Gallaudet on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. The Chargers lost to the Bison, 3-0 in the regular season. Gallaudet is 29-6 this season and was a perfect 11-0 in NEAC play during the regular season. They did not drop a set in any of their 11 NEAC wins.
