One of the definitions of insanity that people like to use is that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Tuesday night at Horst Athletic Center, insanity was on full display as the Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team never adjusted to their game plan and fell to Philadelphia Biblical, 3-0. The Crimson Eagles won, 25-17, 25-10, 25-12. The Crimson Eagles quickly jumped on the Chargers and through pristine passing and solid hitting, quickly dispatched LBC in three sets.
For their part, LBC did very little to change the momentum of the match. They had just 16 kills for the entire match to go along with 21 errors. For Chargers' Head Coach Evelyn Long, the hitting wasn't even the worst part.
"We had a game plan and simply never adjusted it to what they were doing," Long said. "We kept hitting into blocks, we kept hitting it to their libero and the hitting errors just killed us."
Justin Perkins and
A.J. Longacre each had four kills for the Chargers, while
Andy Nguyen had a team-high eight digs.
"I thought we could've competed with PBU and had a chance to win," Long said. "We didn't show that we were mentally ready to play."
LBC is now 0-20 all-time against PBU and have only taken two sets from the Crimson Eagles. Those came in February of 2009 and February of 2005.
These two teams will meet again on March 24 in Langhorne, Pa.
