Stevenson Too Much for Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball just can't get on the same page. When one player has a good game, one doesn't. When it looks like the Chargers will start a rally, the opposing team comes up with a huge block.

As such, it was much of the same for the Chargers on Tuesday night at Horst Athletic Center. Stevenson used big scoring runs and lots of momentum-crushing blocks to top Lancaster Bible, 3-0. The Mustangs won, 25-18, 25-13, 25-20.

Joey Brennen and Dan McAllister each had seven kills to lead the Chargers, while Alex Bahn had 17 assists and nine digs.

"Volleyball is a game of momentum and we can't continue to give up big scoring runs like that," LBC Head Coach Evelyn Long said. "We've been working on getting a side out and then earning a point on our serve."

In all three games however, the Chargers dug themselves into a hole early on and simply couldn't get back into the game.

"It's hard to be positive, both physically and mentally, when you are behind," Long said. "We just haven't been able to string points together when we are behind."

For now the Chargers (5-4) will look to keep meshing and try to get onto the same page. After playing just three matches in 15 days, LBC will play three matches this weekend when they take part in the Juniata Invitational Tournament in Huntingdon, Pa.

LBC will face the host Eagles on Friday at 2 p.m. and Springfield at 6 p.m. On Saturday morning at 10 a.m., LBC will face Thiel.
