Women's Volleyball Weekend Recap

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team spent the weekend in Cobleskill, N.Y. as SUNY Cobleskill hosted the first NEAC Crossover Weekend of the season. LBC went 2-1, defeating Cazenovia and SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday and falling to Keuka on Sunday morning. Below is a quick recap of each match.

Lancaster Bible 3, Cazenovia 1
19-25, 25-21, 25-12, 25-11

The Chargers dropped the first set, but responded by drilling the Wildcats over the next three sets. Lauren Daniels and Lauren Heliger combined for 35 of the Chargers' 49 kills and 30 of the team's 71 digs to lead LBC. Hannah Metzler continued her strong play at setter with 42 assists. 

"We had good unity, especially after a rough practice on Friday," Chargers' Head Coach Lauren Bewley said. 

Lancaster Bible 3, SUNY Cobleskill 0
25-14, 25-19, 25-16

LBC was once again led by Daniels and Heliger as Daniels had 14 kills and 18 digs and Heliger added 11 kills and 17 digs. Katie Coomber and Grace Scheuerman chipped in with six kills each, while Coomber added two solo blocks as well.

Keuka 3, Lancaster Bible 0
25-20, 25-20, 25-22

The Chargers lost to a strong Keuka squad as the Storm's Paige Golden had 18 kills. Heliger 13 kills and 19 digs to lead LBC, while Daniels had 11 kills and 17 digs. Metzler added three kills, seven digs and 26 assists for the Chargers who fell to 4-13 overall and 2-2 in NEAC play. 

"We didn't play badly," Bewley said. "Just not good enough to win. Overall it was a good weekend."

LBC is back in action on Tuesday night when they face Cairn and Valley Forge Christian in Phoenixville, Pa. Should the Chargers win both matches, they will clinch the number one seed for the NCCAA East Region Playoffs and host the semi-finals and final on Friday, October 26. LBC takes on Cairn at 6 p.m. and Valley Forge Christian at 8 p.m.
