Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball team earned its first win of the young season on Friday night, defeating Gallaudet, 3-0. The Chargers won the non-conference matchup, 25-6, 25-9, 25-15. Though both teams are in the North Eastern Athletic Conference, Friday's match was not the contest that will count in the conference standings. That match will be held on February 5 in Washington, D.C.
Friday night, it was the Chargers who controlled things from start to finish as every member of the team had a kill and dig.
Paul Fulbright led the way with eight kills, while Mitch Demko and
A.J. Longacre each had seven kills and three aces. Setter
Alex Bahn had 28 assists to go with his three kills and four digs.
Newcomers to the team,
Nathan Diehl and
Charlie Hirschy saw action as well, as Hirschy had four kills and two digs, while Diehl added three kills and a dig. Due to a team member missing, regular libero,
Andy Nguyen, got to play every position and had a kill and three digs. Senior
Keith Mitzel also played a strong match as he had three kills and eight digs.
Ryan Poindexter led the Bison (0-2) with three kills, while James Wilson had 11 digs.
The Chargers (1-3) return to the floor on the aforementioned date of February 5. In addition to playing the Bison, LBC will also face Washington Adventist. The conference match against Gallaudet is set to begin at 5 p.m., while the match against Adventist will start at 7 p.m.
