Manhattanville Takes Down Chargers

Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team dropped its second straight game on Saturday as they lost to Manhattanville, 95-80 in the Consolation Game of the Max Ziel Tournament held at Oswego State in Oswego, N.Y.

Sophomore Dondre Perry had a career-high 21 points, while fellow sophomore CJ Dunston also had a career-high with 20 points and 12 rebounds, but the Chargers could not stop Manhattanville from scoring in either half as they poured in 95 points, which the most points allowed by Lancaster Bible since the 2012 NCCAA East Region Final when the Chargers lost to Valley Forge Christian, 98-61.

Perry and Dunston became the first LBC teammates to have 20 or more points in a single game since January 24, 2012 when Andrew Risser and Keith Keltner had 21 and 20 points respectively in the Chargers' 103-99 overtime victory over Penn St. Abington.

The Chargers trailed by 15 at halftime and the Valiants increased to 17 before Lancaster Bible stormed back to cut the deficit to six at 57-51 with 13:11 to play. Lancaster Bible would not get closer as Manhattanville shot 62.5% in the second half and pulled away as they seemingly hit every shot they took according to Lancaster Bible Head Coach Marshall Tague said.

"We missed out on a couple of small things that could have really helped us and didn't take advantage of many opportunities," Tague said. "Manhattanville took advantage of every opportunity and we had a hard time guarding the ball and keeping it in front of us."

Despite being down by double digits much of the game as the played for the second time in 24 hours, Tague said the Chargers never quit, something he was very proud of.

"We didn't shoot great, especially around the hoop, but we didn't quit and we put forth a good effort physically," Tague said.

Albert Suniga added 11 points for the Chargers, while Naheer Mirza had seven points and four assists.

Lancaster Bible (0-2) has a week off before they open the home portion of their schedule when they host Eastern at 3 p.m.
