Poor Second Half Dooms Chargers

Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team dropped its second straight game on Wednesday night as they ended the first semester with a 76-60 loss at Bryn Athyn. The Lions outscored the Chargers, 39-22 in the second half to secure their third straight victory.

The game was close for the first 34 minutes as the teams exchanged the lead nine times, but the Lions ended the game on a 19-5 run and pulled away from the Chargers who went cold from the field and scored just two baskets in the final 7:44 of the game.

"We just didn't play that well and got what was coming to us at the end of the game," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Marshall Tague said.

Junior Albert Suniga led the Chargers with 13 points, while Dondre Perry added 12 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Jordan Mellinger also scored in double digits with 11 and Dave Long had eight points.

The Chargers (4-5, 3-0 NEAC) will go their separate ways for the next 12 days before heading back to campus just prior to the New Year. Tague said he and the rest of the team will use the break to rest and come back ready for the second half.

"I think the break comes at a good time and hopefully we can all re-charge and get ready to go," Tague said. "We did some really good things during parts of our first nine games and we need to stay committed and keep working hard to make sure we keep doing those things."

Lancaster Bible will play its next game on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 when it hosts Penn St. Lehigh Valley at 4 p.m. The game will be the Chargers' final non-conference game of the regular season. They are 1-5 thus far in non-conference games with their only win coming at Valley Forge Christian on December 3.
