Box Score The Lancaster Bible women's basketball team won its second straight game on Tuesday night as they crushed Wilson, 80-25 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers held the Phoenix scoreless over the final 13:16 of the first half as they took a 52-5 lead into halftime.
The Chargers (3-2, 2-0 NEAC) opened the game on a 13-0 run and led 19-2 with 13:46 to play in the first half on a jumper by
Aubrey Folger. Teniera Prioleau's three-pointer made it 19-5 with 13:16 left in the first, but those would be their last points of the half as the Chargers closed out the remaining time with a 33-0 run. Combined with the 8-0 run to start the second half, the Chargers essentially shutout the Phoenix, 41-0 over 16:06 of game time.Â
The second half was sloppy by both teams, but was already decided as the Chargers won their 10th straight regular season NEAC contest dating back to last season.Â
Junior
Shanice Smith led the Chargers with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists as she returned to her opening-weekend form. Sophomore
Aubrey Folger added 10 points and 10 boards as well, while fellow sophomore
Katy Stover had 14 points.
"We worked out some things offensively tonight so that was good to see," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Doug Helsel said. "We have been focusing on that of late and it was nice to see us figure some things out."
Helsel was also pleased to see Smith get back into the swing of things.
"She's getting her confidence back and she can dominate at times," Helsel said. "When our offensive is moving and playing well, that helps everyone, including Shanice."
The lopsided score also gave everyone on LBC's bench plenty of minutes and Helsel was happy to see some things from players in games that they have been practicing during off days.Â
"
Christy Lorah is doing a great job with the ball and
Sarah Heilenman played well in the high post tonight," Helsel said.
The Chargers scored 62 of their 80 points in the paint, while 24 of the 80 came via the fast break.
Lancaster Bible is back in action on Friday night when they take on their first NEAC North Division opponent of the year in Cazenovia. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at Horst Athletic Center.
