Chargers Win Five-Setter At Penn St. Altoona

Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball team won its third straight match on Tuesday night, defeating Penn St. Altoona, 3-2 in Altoona, Pa. The Chargers rallied back from a 1-0 deficit to win, 15-25, 25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 15-13.

Miles Herron had a team-high 15 kills for the Chargers, while Joey Brennen added nine kills, 12 digs and seven blocks. Seniors Mitch Demko and A.J. Longacre each had eight kills for LBC who improved to 5-4 this season.

"We didn't play very well at all at the beginning of the first set, but began to figure it out as the set went along and though we lost the first set, I definitely thought we had the momentum at the end of the first set," Chargers' Head Coach Evelyn Long said. "I am proud of the guys for maintaining their composure and taking the fifth set. Winning a fifth set is almost all mental and it was great to see the guys stay with it and nice to win after losing here in five sets a couple of weeks ago."

The Chargers were 0-3 in five-set matches last season and Long said it will go a long way for this team that they have won a five-set match.

"To know as a group that we can overcome everything and win in five sets is going to be very helpful going forward," Long said. "I think our confidence will go way up with this win because even though we won, we know we can play better as well."

LBC is back in action on Saturday, February 23 when they travel to Mahwah, N.J. to face Ramapo at 3 p.m.
