Chargers Win Regular Season Finale, Eye Playoffs

Box Score Having already secured the top spot in next week's North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs, the Lancaster Bible women's basketball team added a little icing to the cake on Saturday as they wrapped up the regular season with a 74-62 victory over St. Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J.

The win is LBC's seventh in a row and is their 21st of the season. Freshman Aubrey Folger led four players in double figures with 16 points and 11 rebounds, her eight double-double of the year. Lauren Heliger and Sarah Heilenman each added 15 points, while Brooklyn Wilson chipped in with 14 points.

"I thought we shot the ball well, especially in the first half and played pretty well defensively too," Chargers' Head Coach Doug Helsel said.

LBC (21-4, 16-2 NEAC) playing for the second time in less than 20 hours, shot 50 percent from the floor on Saturday and was 21-of-32 from the free throw line.

Helsel said he was proud of the ladies for playing so hard on Saturday, considering there was very little to play for. The Chargers have a big week ahead of them as they have a chance to win the NCCAA East Region championship and the NEAC championship. Helsel said he thinks the Chargers are ready for the three biggest games of their season.

"I think we are a confident bunch," Helsel said. "We have played a lot of teams who play a lot of different styles and we have been able to be successful against almost all of them. I think right now our focus is solely on the East Region Final on Wednesday and after that, we will get ready for the NEAC Semifinal. We really have to take it one game at a time."

While LBC knows when its next two games are, it still does not know its opponent for either game. Cairn will face Valley Forge Christian on Monday evening at The Pit in Phoenixville in the East Region Semifinal, while SUNYIT will host Wells in the North Division Quarterfinal on Tuesday. The Chargers will meet the winner of Cairn/VFCC on Wednesday in the NCCAA East Region Final and will host the winner of SUNYIT/Wells on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the NEAC Semifinals.

Notes:
-Keuka, the winner of the NEAC North Division, will face the winner of the Penn St. Harrisburg/St. Elizabeth NEAC South Division Quarterfinal at 4 p.m. next Saturday at LBC.

-The NEAC Final will take place at LBC next Sunday, February 24 at 2 p.m.

-The LBC women's basketball team will try and match the feat of the LBC women's soccer team which won the NCCAA East Region title and the NEAC title in the same season this year.
