Box Score 2 The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball team took two large steps to earning the top seed in next month's North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs on Saturday as they defeated Keuka and SUNYIT at Horst Athletic Center to improve to 3-0 in NEAC play and 7-5 overall.
The Chargers opened the day with a 3-1 victory over the Storm. After a sloppy opening set in which LBC lost, 25-19, the Chargers rebounded by taking the next three sets, 25-18, 25-18, 25-15.
A.J. Longacre led LBC with 10 kills, while
Miles Herron added five kills and 15 assists.
After SUNYIT defeated Keuka, 3-0 in the middle match, the Chargers downed the Wildcats, 3-1 in the nightcap. LBC took care of SUNYIT, 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20. LBC's
Joey Brennen had one of the best matches of his career as he had 12 kills with no errors and added five blocks. Herron added another 13 kills in match two, while
Alex Bahn had 27 assists and nine kills.
"It took us a while to get going against Keuka, but I thought we did a good job hitting around their bigger middles," LBC Head Coach Evelyn Long said.
Long was particularly proud of the Chargers' play on offense during both matches.
"We practiced new combinations all week long and they really paid off today," Long said. "Alex and Miles did a great job setting and Joey was unreal during the match against SUNYIT."
LBC returns to the court on Tuesday when they host Washington Adventist at 7 p.m.
