Chargers Clinch NEAC Regular Season Title

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball team captured the first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship on Saturday, wrapping up a perfect regular season with victories over Cazenovia and Wells.

Men's volleyball, a conference-sponsored sport once again, has just six teams, thus the Chargers earn an automatic bid into next Saturday's NEAC Final which will be played at Horst Athletic Center on the campus of LBC. SUNYIT and Keuka will play in the semifinal at 11 a.m., while the winner will meet the Chargers in the NEAC Final at 3 p.m.

On Saturday, the Chargers swept both Cazenovia and Wells, 3-0. In the opener against the Wildcats, the Chargers had 34 kills to Cazenovia's seven. Miles Herron led the way for LBC with 14 kills, while Alex Bahn added 23 assists and six digs. LBC won, 25-10, 25-17, 25-13 as the Chargers hit at a .241 clip.

In their second match, the Chargers were led by Joey Brennen and Keith Mitzel who each had eight kills as LBC won, 25-18, 25-17, 25-17. Bahn added six kills, four digs, four aces and 14 assists, while Mitch Demko had five kills.

"I thought we played solid and steady through both matches with only a small lapse in our second set against Cazenovia," Chargers' Head Coach Evelyn Long said. "The players off the bench came in and maintained the same level of play as the starters. I thought Alex spread the offense very well with his 23 and 18 assists."

Prior to hosting the NEAC Playoffs, the Chargers will wrap-up their regular season on Tuesday when they head to Stevenson, Md. to take on Stevenson and Washington Adventist.
