Today's Feature

The 2013 men's volleyball season was a record-breaking year as the program won the most matches in school history with 16. The Chargers were a perfect 5-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, en route to their first-ever NEAC Regular Season Championship. Though LBC lost to Keuka in the NEAC Final, 3-1, the season was a success and many of the players earned individual accolades.

LBC defeated Gallaudet three times early in the year, one of which was the first NEAC contest for both schools. The Chargers then swept two matches against SUNYIT and Keuka at Horst Athletic Center on Mar. 2 to improve to 3-0 in NEAC play. Wins against Cazenovia and Wells in early April assured the Chargers of a perfect NEAC mark and home court advantage in the playoffs.

Mixed in between were hard fought matches against Penn St. Altoona in which the Chargers lost and won a five-set match  in Altoona and then swept the Nittany Lions, 3-0 at home. One of the only problems to plague the Chargers all year long was their play in weekend tournaments. The Chargers played in four invitationals or tournaments and were a combined 4-9 in those matches.

The bright side of the season was the all-around play of many of the LBC players. Junior Alex Bahn was named NEAC Player of the Year for his outstanding play week-in-and-week-out. Joey Brennen and Miles Herron joined Bahn on the NEAC First Team, while Andy Nguyen, the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year, was on the NEAC Second Team. Head Coach Evelyn Long was named NEAC Coach of the Year as well.

Coach Long and her husband Zack moved to Florida in May and thus, she will not be the coach in 2014 as Jade Brubaker will take the reigns and look to take the Chargers to even further heights.

Historical Significance of the Number 22

22: The number of singles wins by Jeremy Davis (2011-13), the most in men's tennis history. Davis won eight straight matches during the 2013 season to set a new program record.

22: The number of wins by former men's volleyball coach, Evelyn Long, the most in program history. Long won six matches in 2012 and a record 16 in 2013.
