Lancaster Bible Finishes NEAC Weekend with 2-1 Record

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team opened North Eastern Athletic Conference play on Friday night in Utica, N.Y. and lost to host SUNYIT, 3-0. The Wildcats won, 25-13, 25-20, 25-20, sending LBC's overall record to 3-8.

Chargers' sophomore Rachel Olson led the way with 11 kills and 12 digs, while junior Katie Coomber had 10 kills. Sophomore Hannah Metzler led all LBC players with 17 digs and added 19 assists.

"SUNYIT is a tough team and I'm proud of the way the girls continued to get better as the match went on," Chargers Head Coach Lauren Bewley said. 

The NEAC Crossover Weekend continued on Saturday and the Chargers were victorious in both matches as they swept both Morrisville State and Wells, 3-0.

In LBC's first match on Saturday the Chargers won, 25-19, 25-15, 25-20 over the Mustangs. Coomber had a match-high 14 kills, while Metzler added 19 assists. 

"We played very smart points and this was a very solid win for us," Bewley said.

LBC kept up the smart play in its second match as they defeated Wells, 25-18, 25-16, 25-15. Olson led all players with 10 kills, while her sister Emily Olson had four kills and four digs. The Chargers had 14 aces against Wells, including seven from sophomore Joanna Butala. 

"We looked strong and are grasping some good concepts," Bewley said. "I'm pleased with this weekend and our effort in all three matches."

LBC (5-8, 2-1 NEAC) returns home on Tuesday night to face Catholic at 7 p.m. The Chargers are 0-3 all-time against the Cardinals.
